Britain will confront France in the Women's Euro 2017 quarter-finals

Britain will confront France in the Women's Euro 2017 quarter-finals in the wake of beating Portugal to complete best of Group D, however, they neglected to shimmer against the most reduced positioned group in the competition.

Lionesses director Mark Sampson rolled out 10 improvements to his side and they led the pack when Portugal goalkeeper Patricia Morais kicked the ball straight to Toni Duggan, who heaved in from 25 yards on her 50th appearance.

Portugal, who had effectively beaten Scotland, adjusted when Diana Silva had another opportunity to cross after Laura Bassett neglected to clear, and Caroline Mendes tucked in.

After a poor first half, Nikita Parris reestablished England's lead when she waltzed through the Portugal barrier to jab home from short proximity.

That prompted an enhanced second-half execution, however, there was a startle toward the end when Siobhan Chamberlain needed to spare Laura Luis' late volley.

The Lionesses, the principal England group - men's or ladies' - to complete a gathering with an ideal record since the 1982 men's World Cup, have not beaten France since 1974 and have lost to them in their previous three noteworthy competitions.

The French won't have been concerned by this show - and Sampson will trust reestablishing a portion of the group who beat Scotland and Spain will prompt a more expert execution in Sunday's 19:45 BST commence.

They could yet confront Spain once more, after they qualified on objective contrast regardless of losing to Scotland, who were disposed of.
